It began with a pencil, a kiln and an accident that changed everything. As a family of five, life was always a whirlwind- school runs, meals together and endless projects. But when an unexpected accident took its toll, we found ourselves re-routing, taking a path we had never imagined. 

While recovering, Mum picked up a pencil and began sketching- little doodles, patterns and bright ideas that filled dark and quiet moments. It was clear that these sketches turned the quietness into an obvious passion and love for creating, or in other words it became a source of therapy to turn the darkness into light. Together, we encouraged her to follow this spark and, soon, we invested in our very first kiln. What started as a way for Mum to heal and explore became a family affair. We all pitched in - designing, crafting, packing orders and following a path we never expected. 

Slowly but surely, our kitchen table morphed into a creative studio and our house became filled with our china, each piece infused with a piece of our story. As more friends and family began asking for their own creations, our little passion project grew into something much bigger than we had ever expected. 

Our dreams had become reality. 

Today, we still create every piece with the same love and care that started it all. Each design, tells the story of our resilience , creativity, and the power of family working together. We are so proud to share our journey with you through every unique piece we create.

So what does today look like here at Welsh Connection?

What began as a struggle in the dark (long hours, financial uncertainty and a fight to establish ourselves) has grown into something we're incredibly proud of. Today, Welsh Connection is a thriving, family-run business producing fine china, and while the challenges never truly disappear, we now stand in the light, moving forward with confidence and purpose.

Our journey started with a passion for creativity and a belief that Welsh-made china could stand alongside the best. In the early days, it was the five of us working tirelessly and learning as a family together. We had setbacks, moments of doubt, and times where we'd question whether we'd make it. But through persistence, we built not only a business but a community of people who continue to share our vision. 

Over the years, we have grown into a diverse and inclusive community, where every member, whether team or customer, is valued and understood. Our commitment to inclusivity has not only shaped our culture but also earned us the prestigious Inclusivity and Diversity Employer of the Year Award 2024, a recognition of our dedication to fostering a welcoming space for all. 

Our shop in Cardiff is a place where our community comes together, experiencing the warmth and craftsmanship that define us. Alongside our shop, we also have a dedicated factory where we create our beautiful china, ensuring that every piece is crafted with care, passion and precision.
